ROOFING CONTRACTORS faq

With so many roofing contractors in Colorado to choose from, most of our clients have similar concerns as to which company is the best choice for them. Here are helpful answers to some of our most frequently asked questions:

General Questions

How often should I have my roof inspected?

We recommend checking your roof at least twice a year—fall and spring when the weather tends to be milder—to help spot any problems before upcoming weather cycles to make sure that the roof will be prepared for the upcoming changes in temperature and potential seasonal weather hazards.

It’s also a good idea to have your roof inspected after major weather events that involve high winds or hail. Even new roofs should be inspected after this type of situation because bad weather has the ability to damage or ruin a roof no matter what it’s age.

How long have you been in business?
J&K Roofing is a family-owned and operated roofing company operating in the Denver area since 1984. We have roofed over 50,000 projects across Colorado and the surrounding area. We live and work in your communities and are proud to be a local roofer.
Are you a member of the Better Business Bureau?
Yes, J&K Roofing has been a member of the BBB since 1990 and has an accredited A+ rating and a proven track record with BBB reviews. You can visit the BBB site at www.denverbbb.org to see reviews about our company.
Can you provide references?
J&K Roofing has roofed over 50,000 homes across the Denver Metro and Front Range area. We are proud to be a certified contractor for all our major manufacturers and continually meet all required qualifications for roofing installations and safety. We have both business and residential references available upon request.
How long does a roof installation take?
We know your time is valuable, and you don’t want to live in a construction zone. One of the significant benefits of working with an experienced company like J&K Roofing is that it only takes 1-2 days in most cases to complete a roof installation. The size of your roof and weather conditions factor into the amount of time for completion. Most of our materials are roof-loaded so that you won’t have pallets of roofing materials sitting on your lawn or in your driveway. We complete the job, including total cleanup of any tear-off materials on your property.
How can I be sure that my roof is installed correctly?
As your contractor, J&K Roofing is required to purchase a building permit from either the city or county where you live. After construction is complete, the city/county will inspect your roof for compliance with local roofing guidelines. We promptly address any corrections that need to be made in the unlikely event that an issue is found after installation is complete. Our teams are certified in all major manufacturer roofing materials and installation. It is our job to understand requirements.
There are so many companies; how do I choose a roofing contractor?
You have the privilege of choosing the roofing company that you want to do business with. Even if you get recommendations from various sources, your responsibility is to research the different companies. You do not have to go with the lowest bid, which is what your insurance company would like you to believe. Remember, an inexpensive roof is no bargain if you have problems, especially if your contractor is no longer around to honor the labor warranty. Be sure the company you choose is reputable and local. The contractor you choose should have at least ten years of local experience.
What is your service area?
Our team operates across Colorado and Wyoming. In Colorado, we serve the greater Denver metro area with service across the Front Range, Colorado Springs, and Northern Colorado areas. Our team is well versed in the different code requirements across other areas. We provide top-notch customer service across all locations. Give us a call if you have any questions about a project.
Do you also do windows, siding, gutters, solar, and painting?
As part of your roofing project, we also make exterior improvements to windows, siding, gutters, solar, and painting.
What type of warranty do you provide for labor and materials?
J&K Roofing generally provides a 5-year labor warranty on standard installation. Different roofing materials, however, have different manufacturer warranties. They range anywhere from 20 years to lifetime warranties. As a preferred installer for most manufacturers, we also offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty, which refers to the manufacturer warranty on defective shingles, not normal wear and tear. Your project manager will walk you through available warranty options on the product that you are purchasing.
When is payment due for my roofing project?

On residential re-roofing projects, payment is due in full upon substantial completion of your roof. We will walk you through the payment process depending on how you are paying for the project, via financing options, private pay, or through an insurance claim.

For insurance claims, you will receive an initial check from your insurance company and a second check as soon as the roof is completed and your insurance company has received an invoice. We ask for the first check from your insurance company as soon as you receive it. Your J&K Roofing representative will invoice your insurance company for the remainder of the roof upon completion. The final payment is due when you receive your second check. This is usually about 7-10 business days from the completion of your roof. We are insurance claim experts and will walk you through the process.

We request payment in thirds for more extensive or commercial projects: 1/3 upon material delivery, 1/3 mid-way through the project installation, and the final 1/3 upon completion.

New construction payment follows the specifics of the contract documents for the project.

Do you provide financing?
Yes, we offer a wide array of roof financing options through Pure Finance Group, with approved credit. If you are interested in roof financing options, please don’t hesitate to contact our office or your project manager.
Do you accept credit card payments?
Yes. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards. We also accept cash and check payments.
What if my insurance check is made out to my mortgage company?
Most insurance companies will include your mortgage company on the first check. Every mortgage company has its procedure for releasing funds. You can check with your mortgage company before the job starts to determine what information they require to obtain an endorsement, or you can sign a homeowner’s affidavit and let J&K Roofing take care of everything for you. We are very experienced in mortgage company procedures, and in most cases, we already have the information needed as we have worked with your mortgage company in the past.
Can J&K Roofing help with insurance claims?
J&K Roofing has helped many homeowners navigate their roof insurance claim process to restore and improve their homes. If you are concerned about any damage to your roof, please call us to set up a roof inspection. We’ll determine the scope of the damage, if any, and provide the necessary paperwork for you to begin the claims process. We have relationships with all of the major insurance companies and will walk through the process each step of the way.
What happens if it rains during my roof installation?
Our team is responsible for protecting your home from rain and inclement weather during installation. We take all necessary precautions to protect your home from rain and inclement weather.
Will salespeople come to my house?
A Project Manager will come to your home to inspect your roof, verify measurements, review your options, and prepare an estimate on the spot. We’ll answer any questions to help you decide if we’re the right fit for your project.
Should I be concerned about damage to my property?
Your property is important to us. Our teams are conscientious and look out for your entire property while working on your roofing project. We are careful to protect landscaping and outdoor yard areas, including picking up nails. We remove all roofing materials upon project completion and are careful with all aspects of your property.
If someone gets hurt on my property during installation, is there a possibility that I can be sued?
In any contracting job, there is always that possibility. That is why it is imperative to hire a reputable company with proper insurance. At J&K Roofing, we carry all necessary insurance and bonding to keep you protected, and we can provide proof of this before beginning any job.
